New Brothers
New Postulants
Dominicans in the Vice-Province of Southern African are grateful to God for the three brothers who began their postulancy this year February in Welkom, Free State, with Br. Neil Mitchell OP as Postulant Master. They are; Mark Mngomezulu (Swaziland- left), Motlatsi Lazore (South Africa - centre), Donald Kateguru (Zimbabwe - right).
Later in the year, two more brothers will be joining them from Malawi and South Africa. These brothers are keen to respond to God’s call in accordance with the Dominican charism.
We are therefore happy in the spirit of St Dominic to journey with them in prayer and offer them the needed support in their vocation.

Dominican Music CD Coming Soon!
Khanya Litabe and Siphiwe Moloi of Radio Veritas recently traveled to the Emaphethelweni Priory in Pietermaritzburg to do a recording of hymns performed by the Dominican brothers.
A CD will be soon be produced and would be available for purchase in the near future.
This is in honour of the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Dominican Order and the centenary of their presence in South Africa.
They hymns are sung in many of the languages of southern Africa.
Dominican Students top achievers at St Joseph's
The Prioy of Emaphethelweni in Pietermaritzburg is currently home to 15 firiars, and it is in this priory that our students live.
Most of the students study at St. Joseph's Theological Institute while some study at the local University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Pietermaritzburg.
Our students are among the top academic achievers at the Institute.
The picture shows the beautiful stained glass windows and round Tabernacle in the priory.
Former SA friar now Prior in the Netherlands
Father Kees Keijsper OP, who worked in South Africa for most of his life and served as Assistant (Socius) to the Provincial of the Netherlands for the past four years, has just been elected as the Prior of his community in Nijmegen.
